Workers Compensation
When an individual is injured in the workplace or while performing some work-related activity, that individual may be entitled to the provision of certain benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act of Georgia. Such benefits may include the payment of lost wages and medical expenses and, depending on the nature and severity of the injury, services such as attendant care or professional transportation. The Workers' Compensation Act also applies to those families who have tragically lost a loved one through a work-related accident. Family members in such an unfortunate circumstance are entitled to the payment of funeral costs, as well as the receipt of dependency benefits. Regrettably, in many situations, injured workers and their families do not receive the proper benefits to which they are entitled. In some cases only partial benefits will be offered, while in many others an injured worker will receive no benefits whatsoever. An employer and its' insurer may offer a variety of reasons as to why benefits have not been issued, but the reality is that in most cases there is no legitimate excuse for a denial. In these circumstances, injured workers and their families are best served by retaining the assistance of an attorney.
