The Kalka Law Group is proud to announce a substantial recovery made by the firm on behalf of an injured Georgia couple. The husband and wife were stopped at an intersection after leaving a Banks County Wal-Mart when a Swift tractor-trailer entered the roadway, striking one car before hitting the couple’s. The couple’s car was dragged by the trailer for nearly 40 feet and was partially trapped underneath it.<\/p>\n

As a result, both husband and wife suffered multiple injuries, the husband himself requiring back surgery as a result. The necessary medical treatment proved quite costly but neither the trucking company nor their own health insurer were willing to cover the costs.<\/p>\n

After contacting our firm, we were able to file a claim for damages with the State Court of Clayton County and proceeded to depose the truck driver, safety director, dispatcher, and even a representative for Swift Company. Each one was asked if they believed the driver was adequately trained. The litigation was extensive and contentious but in the end, our firm was able to obtain a settlement for the couple totaling $205,000 with only a few weeks before the case was set to go to trial.<\/p>\n
