Uber & Lyft Accidents
Rideshare services, such as Uber and Lyft, have become a popular way to get around town in recent years. Instead of having to call a cab or use another mode of transportation, customers can simply request a ride within minutes from an app. In addition, almost anyone can become drivers for rideshare companies if they have their own vehicle and adequate insurance—without obtaining a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Our Uber & Lyft accident lawyers at The Kalka Law Group can evaluate your case, determine your available legal options, and help you obtain compensation to pay for medical expenses, lost wages, and even pain and suffering. Additionally, you don’t have to pay us any legal fees until we win your case.

If you were injured in an Uber/Lyft accident while riding as a passenger, you need to prove who is liable to file an accident claim. But if the collision was caused by a rideshare driver, you might be wondering if you must file a claim with the driver’s or the company’s insurance.
Keep in mind, unless the driver has commercial liability insurance, you will most likely have to file a claim through Uber or Lyft. If an insurance company discovers a driver was using a personal vehicle for commercial purposes, it will often cancel the policy. When you are riding in an Uber/Lyft vehicle, both companies provide $1 million in liability coverage.
If a rideshare driver causes the crash while you were operating your personal vehicle, you will file a claim with the driver’s insurance.
If a third-party driver causes the Uber/Lyft accident, you will have to file a claim with the third-party driver. If an uninsured or underinsured driver causes the accident, Uber/Lyft provides up to $1 million in UM and UIM coverage.
