On Saturday April 27, 2013, a 28-year-old young mother, and her four daughters were killed in a horrific house fire just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. The fire began at 1am Saturday morning while the family was likely asleep and it is believed that it may have been due to electrical issues. The young girls tragically killed were 5, 3, 2 and 1 years of age. Their older sister, who was 11-years-old, was awoken by the mother first and had time to escape. While firemen tried to save the home and the girls inside, they were unfortunately too late.

The young family had moved into the home just two months prior. When speaking to the former tenant, she spoke of the fact that the house had experienced ongoing issues with the electrical wiring. She believed that the property manager had never actually taken care of the issues that should have been fixed, especially before having another family move in. While it is still under investigation, our Atlanta wrongful death attorneys have retained the case and are representing the family of the three children killed in this horrible tragedy.

It is a definite possibility that the landlord could be to blame for not providing proper upkeep. If it is discovered that electrical issues were the root of the fire, the landlord could be held liable. The Kalka Law Group have dedicated their efforts to represent the family with compassion and understanding, as they go through this difficult time of coping with loss. Attorney Kalka has been included in the list of the 2012 National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 under 40, which denotes his high level of skill and competency when it comes to providing qualified representation.
