WHAT IS CYANOSIS?

“My brother was injured in an auto accident and I heard the doctor talking about cyanosis. What is it, and can the other driver be liable for his injuries?”

We are saddened to hear that your brother was injured in an Atlanta auto accident; however, we are glad to hear that he is being treated by a doctor. Far too many patients neglect medical care after an accident, which could cost them their lives or their potential personal injury case.

Cyanosis is when the skin, mucus membranes (lips, mouth, nostrils, eyelids, ear, genital areas), and/or nail beds turn a bluish color. This can happen to victims of car accidents who suffer internal injuries, such as a punctured lung. It generally occurs because oxygen levels start dropping.

If doctors catch it, they will administer supplemental oxygen to help increase the blood oxygen levels. The other driver may be held liable for your brother’s injuries including medical bills, physical therapy, ongoing medical care, lost wages, instances of pain and suffering and more.

Our knowledgeable attorneys at The Kalka Law Group would like to talk to you or your brother to find out more about the accident and to determine if your brother has a potential personal injury case.
